SupperClub Planner

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 September 2026

SupperClub Planner is a meal-planning app made by Craig Mackintosh, an independent developer. This policy explains, in plain English, what the app does with information. The short version: almost everything stays on your phone, we do not sell data, we do not show adverts, and we do not track you.

What stays on your device

Your household details, food preferences, allergies, kitchen equipment, budget, macro targets, meal plans, shopping lists, cupboard contents, ratings and any recipes you save are stored only on your device. We cannot see them. They leave your device only if you export them yourself, or choose to share a week with a Supper Club (see below).

Importing recipes

When you import a recipe from a link, the app fetches the public text of that page or post (for example its caption) directly from your device. It never downloads the video or audio, and it does not store or re-host a post’s pictures: where a post has a public preview picture, the app shows it from its original address. It always keeps a link back to the original and credits the creator.

Smart import (optional). Some captions are too messy to read reliably on the device. If — and only if — you switch on Smart import, the app sends the text of the recipe or caption and its link to our server, which uses Anthropic’s Claude AI model to tidy it into a structured recipe and sends the result straight back. Nothing else is sent: no name, no contacts, no preferences, no location. We do not keep the text after the recipe has been returned. To keep the service fair, we store a random identifier for your app install together with a daily count of smart imports; it is not linked to you. We also keep a daily count against a one-way, salted and daily-changing scrambled form (a hash) of your network address. It cannot be turned back into an IP address, it is not linked to you, and it is removed after about 7 days. You can switch Smart import off at any time in Preferences › Privacy & data, and importing still works on-device.

Scanning photos

When you scan a photo or screenshot of a recipe, the text is recognised on your device using Apple’s Vision framework. The photo itself is never uploaded. The app asks for camera or photo access only when you use this feature.

Supper Clubs (optional)

Supper Clubs let friends share a week of meals. To use them you sign in with Apple. We then store, on our server (hosted by Supabase): an account identifier from Sign in with Apple, the display name you choose, how many people you are cooking for and the nights you cannot cook, the clubs you belong to, the shared week plan and the recipes in it, the shared shopping list and who ticked what, who is cooking which meal, and the amounts members enter for settling up. Other members of your club can see this information; nobody else can. The recipes in a week you share are uploaded in full (ingredients, method, credit and source link) so that the other members can cook them; recipes you do not share never leave your device. We do not receive your email address from Apple.

Two things are kept that other members cannot see: a token from Apple, used only to end the app’s Sign in with Apple link when you delete your account, and a note of the time of any wrong invite codes you enter, kept for about a day so that codes cannot be guessed.

You can report or block another member from inside a club. Reports are reviewed by the developer. Everyone agrees to the Supper Clubs rules before starting or joining a club.

Deleting your account. In the Clubs tab, tap the account icon and choose “Delete my Supper Clubs account”. This immediately and permanently deletes your account, your display name, your memberships, the nights you chose to cook, the amounts you entered, your block list and the Apple token, and we ask Apple to end the app’s Sign in with Apple link. Clubs you started are not deleted for the other members: each passes to its longest-standing member, and a club is deleted only when you were its last member. Weeks and recipes you shared with a club stay visible to that club; share a different menu for that week, or delete the club, first if you want them removed. The rest of the app does not need an account.

Sharing your shopping list

Your shopping list stays on your device. When you tap “Share list” or “Copy list”, the app hands the list, as plain text, to whatever you choose from your phone’s own share sheet — a message, an email, a note. It goes nowhere else, and nothing is sent to us. The app has no in-app grocery browser, does not place orders, and has no commercial relationship with any shop.

Notifications

Cooking timers and reminders are local notifications created on your device. We do not send push notifications from a server.

Analytics, advertising and tracking

There are none. The app contains no advertising, no third-party analytics SDKs and no tracking. Our server keeps standard short-lived technical logs (such as IP address and time of a request) for security and abuse prevention only.

Children

SupperClub Planner is a tool for adults who plan and cook for their household, including cooking together with their children. It is not directed at children, does not knowingly collect information from children, and Supper Clubs accounts are for adults.

Nutrition and allergy information

Nutrition figures and costs are estimates calculated from general ingredient data. Allergy and diet filters are an aid, not a guarantee — always check product labels. The app does not give medical advice.

Your choices and rights

You can export everything the app holds on your device (Preferences › Privacy & data › Export my data), erase it (Erase everything), switch Smart import off, and delete your Supper Clubs account, all from inside the app. If you would like help, or wish to exercise rights you have under laws such as the GDPR or UAE PDPL, email us and we will respond within 30 days.

Changes

If this policy changes in a meaningful way we will update the date above and describe the change in the app’s release notes.
